Sept. 17-19 Back Country Ride at the Ricksgers in Kalkaska.
We are going to have a group gathering to just chill out and have some fun riding and enjoying our new friendships that have been made over the past couple of years. If you have a friend who is not a member and think they might like to join us for the weekend-please feel free to bring them along! Bob and Brenda have agreed to let us camp and use this time to raise a little money to help our treasury recoup. A $20 per rig donation charge has been suggested for the entire weekend! All proceed's will go to our Back Country Horsemen fund....... If you would like to join us at Bob and Brenda's on this date please contact us at okcorral@ejourney.com so we will be able to give the Ricksgers some idea on how many will attending.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY LET ME KNOW THAT YOU ARE COMING-NO NEED TO RESPOND AGAIN.....
Lots of space to picket or use your corral system, but, Brenda said that if we have more than 20 rigs they will mow down more ferns and trim a few more trees for picket safety. Water tank to draw from for your horses will be provided. They have a nice pavilion area for cooking and eating as a group as well. Bob has a nice big industrial grill and loves to cook breakfast on Saturday morning. Pancakes is his specialty. If you would like to add fruit or anything else to this meal feel free to bring what you like. He will also cook dinner meal if anyone has their own meat he will cook it on this grill-then potluck is nice. At this time of the year the leaves will beginning to turn and should be very pretty-hopefully it will be just a little cooler as well. Hope you can save this date!
Thanks so much, See you soon.... Dick and Connie

DIRECTIONS to RICKSGERS! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
From the second stop light in Kalkaska : go North on 131 7 miles to Plum Valley Rd. (there will be a Spirit Gas Station/Party Store on the right) turn Left go just over 2 mile to the second dirt road you can turn Right on, Innis Rd. It will take you North just over a mile and make a 90* turn Left a couple hundred feet or so you will see Ricksgers Logging Trail (blue private rd sign) turn right. It will take you past a big green building (gas compressor station) go Left, will take you past a gas well keep going (no turning around the well) across the field on the two track through the little stand of woods. If you don't leave the two track you will end at camp ground! You can park on either side. You can picket in the trees or put up portable coral. You may camp either before or after the pavilion. There will be horse water back there in a tank.

A great idea has just been sumitted by Gabrielle Hume for this weekend's campout....If you have anything that you would like to bring for a silent auction for this weekend bring them. We will have them out for display as they come in...someone else's junk could be a treasure for you.
Also, if you have any empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls please bring them-we will have all the extra things needed to put together some nifty firestarters. We will do this in our down time when not riding.....:)
She's so crafty! | |
